"Leads" Miserables

"Leads" Miserables

From a seat in the Dixie High auditorium love appears real as Marius (Tanner Hafen) and Cosette (Avonlea Dalley) share multiple kisses.

Although it appears to be real, the Dixie High junior, Hafen explains “It was great working with a friend, it made it much easier to 'fall in love' on stage when you're good friends.” On the other hand Junior Avonlea seemed to think it was harder, “It was very hard to get into character because he's like my brother and I've known him for so long.”

When asked about funniest moments during rehearsal some things were left unsaid. One moment in which Tanner, Nate, and Avonlea  all agreed upon but said the moment will stay under lock and key, “Let's just say it was something that Mr. Saxton said to Nate that I won't repeat.”

Janae Klumpp mentioned that her funniest moment was “when Casey (Hobson) was creepin' on me in 'Lovely Ladies,' and when I went to hit him he missed my arm and we had a weird hitting fight.”

So many different relationships happened while doing Les Miserables such as Jean Valjean and Javert being enemies or the Thenardiers having Little Cosette as their slave.

For some actors it wasn’t the first time to have an adversary relationship with one another. Nate Myers had worked with Gabe Garcia before as protagonist and antagonist, “Gabe was my father in the Miracle Worker and being Phantom I had to be mean to everyone. It was interesting because it would be intense on stage then when you get backstage everyone would laugh about what happened.”

There were so many amazing things about Les Miserables but there are just a few that some of the leads favor the most.

Janae Klumpp loved “diving into such an emotional character. Fantine has so much depth and she has become one of my favorite characters I have ever played before.”

Tanner Hafen said that his favorite part of being in the play was “the time I got to spend with my friends. When you spend that much time with people, you really become a family.”

Nate Myers really enjoyed “the last night, holding hands with his best friends Malory (Brown) and Janae (Klumpp) during the Epilogue.”

Avonlea Dalley said, “I loved my costumes, making new friendships, and making other friendships stronger… and no homework!”

So many memories were made during the production of Les Miserables. The cast seemed like they had a load of fun putting on the production!
