PINE VIEW - As Justin Cummings dove on the onside kick it was apparent
that Dixie had just spoiled Pine View’s homecoming and pulled off a tremendous
upset. The Flyers took the lead and almost gave the game away before securing
the win.
Pine View’s offensive line showed dominance at the beginning
of the game, easily running it up the gut to a seemingly effortless opening
drive touchdown. But the Flyers, led by savvy junior quarterback Blake Barney,
bounced back with a touchdown of their own.
During the drive, the Flyers
leading wide receiver, Tadd Challis, went down on a questionable hit by
defensive back Braxton Peterson. Instead, Challis's replacement, sophomore
Lukas Hildebrandt, burned the Pine View defense en route to two touchdown receptions
and a 21-19 advantage for the Flyers going into halftime.
