Going Without a Phone

Going Without a Phone

The thought in this day and age with going without a cell phone for a week would be insane to some.

For some people their cell phone is a major part of how they communicate and to keep in touch with others.

When I was given the assignment of going five days with no use of my cell phone I thought that my life wouldn't change very much.

As the project was in it’s early stages I realized how much time is actually spent on a cell phone throughout the day.

Not being able to use a phone during school didn’t affect my daily routine at all. But when it came to after school life, the feeling of being out of the loop would enter.

Also having to plan to do something while you’re with someone is something different rather than being able to just text someone when you’re ready to hang out.

Life does become very different when you’re accustom to being able to just pick up a phone to see what your friend is doing, or to get on Facebook or Twitter at any time you want.

The social part of life almost started to feel as if we were in elementary school. Only being able to talk at school, having to get on the computer for things we can do with our phones now, and borrowing a phone if you really need to talk to someone.

The biggest thing that I noticed when I was done, was that I was able to be more productive at times.

Instead of getting on Facebook, the homework that would normally be procrastinated on was getting done.

Also more time was wasted. Such as just being so bored that sitting there seemed to be the only option as of what to do.

So with the world being so reliant on cellular communication, I believe that we could all take a step back and not use a cell phone quite as much.
