One of the advantages to being a high school student is the ability to tailor one’s schedule and activities to his or her own likes. But with this advantage comes a cost. Every student has to pay fees.
If a student wants to graduate they have to pay all of the fees fully. School fees are one of the last things students think about until it gets closer to May and graduation.
There is a poster by the finance office telling how much all the classes owe for fees and it adds up to about $55,000. That is a lot and that happens every year.
Finance secretary, Mrs. Harris said that some of the students get into the bind because they don’t follow the correct procedures. “There are a small percentage of students that don’t fully pay their fees because they don’t follow the check out process.”
Pay your fees fully, otherwise there are some things that can happen if you don’t. Seniors don’t get to walk with their senior class if they owe money. If a student owes money and they bought a yearbook they don’t get their yearbook when everyone else does.
There are so many different fees for classes, sports, clubs, etc. A few fees that senior Nellie Boyer had to pay this year were some that many have to pay. “ … my yearbook, choir, and if I take AP tests I have to pay for those too.” Other fees students have to pay for are band, graphics, science classes, welding, sports, and so much more”.
If a student does not know what fees they owe, they should go talk to Mrs. Harris. “Don’t think that you didn’t know to pay for any class because at the beginning of the year almost every teacher gives out course disclosures!” Mrs. Harris informed.
There are some expensive activities going on at the school. If a student looks at the fee list in front of the finance office the most expensive fees are for Madrigals and sports.
If a parent isn’t able to come into the school and pay for fees they can just go on myschoolfees.com. It doesn’t take more than five minutes to pay for fees. Go talk to Mrs. Harris or go on myschoolfees.com and pay for your fees! Do it today so you can graduate or get a yearbook!
