The Drowsy Chaperone

This year is an extremely exciting one because Dixie has been scheduled to put on a new play that it has never done before.
Dixie will be the first school in Southern Utah to put on Drowsy Chaperone, which in itself is bragging rights.
Drowsy Chaperone will be an extremely exciting performance since it is new to the school.
This play originated in 1997 when writer Bob Martin created a skit honoring his friend, Martin and his then fiancee, Janet Van De Graaff, as a wedding gift. Among his group of friends were Lisa Lambert, Greg Morrison, and Don McKellar. This rather quirky forty minute musical spoof would later become the full-length musical we now know.
The play however, is not very well known, so there is a bit of skepticism.
Dixie play director, Mr. Saxton said, "I hope that it will continue to be in the high school theater tradition, and I hope we get an audience because we are the first ones in Southern Utah to do it," and that "It has some of the most talented students I've had to work with."
The enthusiasm for the play from Saxton explains how special this play really is.
With all this hype it can be easy to tell that the students in the play are really excited.
Kelly Andrews the current Head Stage Manager has put a lot of time into this play and said, "Let’s see, I started before auditions and I'm here every day after school; I have to be at every rehearsal, (and) I'm also in tech classes where we build the sets."
But of course with all the work put in by the staff, it should be exciting.
Kelly also felt this about The Drowsy Chaperone, "I'm excited, and I think it will be funny."
Not only the stage manger was animated about the play but some of the cast as well, Nate Meyers, Dixie high senior, who plays Aldolpho, was adamant about the play. "Absolutely, it is really clever and original, but it is almost nostalgic and has almost no point, it is almost nonsense, but there are some buoyant moments."
From the replies and statements it seems to push up the level exhilaration for Drowsy Chaperone.
