Is it the Education or the School?

Is it the Education or the School?

After being a school for over a hundred years, Dixie has perfected working hard, achieving goals, and being the greatest. Dixie's fame doesn't go unnoticed as it has become the "destination school" for Washington County high school students.

Some students work better with one school better than the other. Students who have come from other schools get a perspective of how each school is different, most of the time. Such as getting along with students or teachers, or a better class or a class that they really want to take but can't take else where. Kylie Hardin, a senior, and former Snow Canyon and Tuachan student likes the tennis team here, "Snow Canyon's tennis team was completely wack and I wanted a better one."

Transportation is another reason that students transfer to a different school. Mostly because they can't afford gas or because it is easier to just go to a school that is closer than other schools. Mrs. Lewis, counselor, says that most kids transfer because of money reasons, "There are times where students transfer because they move and don't have a way to get to their original school or don't have enough money for transportation to still go the other school."

Teachers have a big part in students lives whether the teachers or the students realize it or not. The teachers part is on how they teach, how they treat the students, and also what they teach. But also the students are involved with the other students.

Hardin has noticed how more interactive both students and teachers are here, "People are nicer and more involved with students. I really like my teachers."

Dixie teachers are unique. They really care about their students in a certain way but not excluding one from the other. Senior, Octavio Lacayo, a former Enterprise student, agrees, "Teachers here don't seem to pick favorite students and they actually care about teaching the subject in a way that they students will understand."

Most people don't judge anyone by any way of means possible, "Everyone at Dixie is a lot nicer, and more accepting of others," said sophomore, Belen Jackson, a former Snow Canyon Middle student.

Students obviously enjoy being here at Dixie with all the friendly people whether they are students or teachers. The education is also one other big thing that most people go here for among other things.

They learn more things in a different way, an easier way.  Lacayo says that the education here actually pertains to him, "The education at Dixie has been amazing. I am taking classes that actually pertain to me that Enterprise could never offer. My grades and quality of learning has only improved since I started attending Dixie."
