DHS drama has pulled off another spectacular performance. Mr. Saxton’s long countless hours working to put on this years production of Beauty and the Beast have paid off once again.


Audiences were captivated by the stunning costumes and creative choreography shown by the talented members of the drama department. Beautiful scenes and backdrops brought the drama to life.


Many DHS students attended the play and were impressed by the wonderful performance that there fellow peers were able to put on. “Avonlea Dally really looked like Belle. She was a great fit for the part,” admired Kember Childers.


Students and adults from around the community were all invited to see the play.


Desert Hills student Brock Johnson enjoyed the play and the characters, “My favorite character was Le Fou, I thought it was a perfect portrayal from the movie of how goofy, clumsy and quick witted he is!” Le Fou’s Josh Heaton put on a crazy, fun performance that had the audiences wondering what he was going to do next.


“What impressed me the most was how huge Garrison was!” Dakota Bair marveled.


Lots of magic tricks were used during this production. Everything from the wilting rose to the optical illusioned box that held Chip.


The seemingly bodiless Chip was wheeled around the stage while the audience stared cluelessly at how they were seeing what they were. Amanda Sullivan shed some light on this mystery, “It was all done with mirrors, Cameron’s (Chip’s) dad worked really hard to make it look perfect.”


“My favorite part was when the beast was raised up while he transformed into a man,” said Jeff Glauser. “it blew my mind!”


The fog and the lighting helped to cast a dramatic feeling on all of the scenes. Not to mention fabulous backdrops and transitions from one scene to the next.


Brock Johnson could not have agreed more, “The stage looked amazing and the transitions were fast and cool! Being able to turn the beasts tower when Gaston stabbed him was fun to see.”


Beauty and the Beast has lived up to the long line of Dixie High productions as being some of the best entertainment in town. The community always look forward to DHS’s productions, and thanks to another spectacular one, they’ll continue to.

Dixie Breezes Past North Sanpete

Dixie was able to pull off their first playoff win in two years, against North Sanpete and in blowout fashion as they trounced over the unsuspecting Hawks.


The Flyers seemed to have a hard time making into the endzone in the first quarter as Blake Barney and the explosive Dixie offense had several drives that ended down close to the Hawks twenty or thirty yard line.

second round of the State Playoffs.

However that soon changed as the Flyers made their way into the endzone for the first time early in the second quarter as Blake Barney drove the Flyer Offense down the field ending in a 5 yard touchdown run by the #1 Ranked Quarterback in region 9. Though this score was a good momentum builder for the Flyers, the real explosion came when Andy Appel caught a pass from Barney for a 44 yard catch and run, just coming a yard short of the endzone.
This gave the Flyers the momentum they needed to pull off the rest of their 35-6 rout of the North Sanpete Hawks.


Mitch Wilkinson was incredibly tough throughout the game, both in the receiving game and the return game bringing two kicks past the 40 yard line and scoring a 10 yard touchdown through the air.
