Flyer Party Sweeps

When class elections come to mind people think of passing out candy, putting up posters, and candidates trying to buy last minute votes.

In Dixie there is a long tradition of the Flyer Party and the Dixie Party going at it to see who can get elected into office.

This year it was the Flyers party that was able to run the table and get everyone of their candidates elected.

Some students might not know that you don’t have to vote for everyone in the same party and that’s what the head of student elections, Ms. Stucki said was the biggest disadvantage to having the parties.

She also went on to say that she thinks the parties are how the elections should be done. “I believe the parties are fair and we keep them going because of their tradition.”

Junior Tanner Hafen was chosen to be Student Body President for the 2012-2013 school year and he is currently the junior class president.

When he was asked he was going to do as student body president he replied “ I want to get recognition to the clubs that might not get as much recognition right now.”

Hafen’s Vice President will be Junior Cortney Welch who won over the student body with a Hunger Games skit to begin her speech.

Then the Secretary is going to be junior Garrison Ganowsky, who is currently the junior class Secretary.

“I’m just going to do what I’ve done this year, because what I’m suppose to do won’t change much,” is what Ganowsky said to what he plans to do for the students body not only one class.

Juniors Whitney Rogers and Dallas Montella automatically got their positions due to no competition. Rogers will be on amusements and Montella will be over activities.

Then Finally the only Sophomore to win was Hagen McCombs. He is going to be the Health and Safety Commissioner.

In the end all the candidates did a great job, and good luck to the winners next year.
